Replacing the bungee
In Response To: Re: Strip: A Simple Retractable Skeg (Bryan Hansel)
: Nice design. How easy is it to replace the bungee after it wears out?
Installing the bungee consists of using a string as a leader to pull the bungee loop down through the hole in the base. Then the bungee loop is threaded back up, and then using a finger to stretch it while inserting the blade. It takes a couple of minutes but it is not hard.
The bungee doesn't see much abrasion since it is recessed slightly in the hull.
