Have you actually seen anything like this on the market commercially?

Lycra will stretch, and stretch quite a bit at that. I don't think any polyurethane coating would be able to stay attached to the threads of the fabric when it stretches.

A very thin coating of natural latex, or perhaps a synthetic rubber, like neoprene, would stretch, but the coating itself would greatly increase the energy needed to make the fabric expand. Lycra which doesn't stretch easily might not be suitable for what you want.

Thinking of that--what are you planning to make?
