: I have glassed both inside and outside of the hull and deck of my Cape Ann
: double, and am now ready to join them together. But herein lies the
: problem, The stern fits nicely as well as through the middle, but at the
: bow, the very tip is good and back another foot or so. But then on each
: side I have a gap starting small then expanding up yo 3/16" and back
: down again over an area about 3 feet long. Should I attempt to shave down
: the tip a bit, therefore closing the gap? or should i just fill it in with
: as close a match as I can get with wood flour mixed with resin and glass
: the halves together like that. I guess I should mention that this seam is
: bead and cove.

Buy a couple rolls of 3M 2" clear packing tape. Get the 3M not the cheap stuff.

First you need to do a test fit. Start at one end and tape over the deck at the
bow. Align the deck with one edge of the hull and start the tape on the hull then
go over the deck and push the deck and hull into alignment and pull and
stretch that tape to hold it in place. Stretching the tape as you apply it will
have tremendous holding power. If you have any trouble aligning the
deck and hull slide a couple putty knives into the joints and use them
to lever the parts into position before taping.

I think you will be able to close your gap. If not, mark the areas that need
some planing. Take the deck off, plane and fit again, until you like the fit.
