Hi Bill,

Using Paul excellent diagrams it would seem that the Caribou would be a compromise between the good and the bad when filling with water. The deep V ends filled with water ballast would hold the kayak upright but the water in the flat portion could shift to one side causing an over load of ballast to that side that might over ride the positive ballast in the ends. Then the ballast in the V ends would be spreading to the tipping side causing even more tipping. I'm not saying that is right but in my fuzzy thinking it seems to make sense.
