I think if a kayaker is in big water and her hatch cover comes off, it won't matter if the kayak is flat bottom, round bottom, or V, it's going to spell big trouble. If their roll didn't work, then they wouldn't be able to reenter and roll, and it won't matter if the kayak is flat bottom, round bottom, or V. As you probably know and if you don't let me lend my testimony, coming out of your boat in rough water is a huge P.I.T.A.

The point I was trying to make is that many of the most respected rough water designs in the world have a relatively flat bottom.

As a frame of reference would you call Nick's Petrel "V," round, or flat?
