Seems most people just tape it, at least on the inside seam. I'm just a little concerned about bursting apart at the seams, since on a good day I'm about I'll search the archives tonight after work, since most
topics have probably been discussed to death anyway...

In doing our VOLKSKAYAKs, we tape the keel line seam both inside and outside, as we do with the chines and the deck centreline. The hull/deck joint is taped outside only, as the join is made on a shear clamp (7/8"x7/8" pine). In addition, I add an extra scarificial strip of FG tape to the keel line to help resist abrasion.
