Thanks, I've read The New Kayak Workshop and The Strip Built Sea Kayak, and looked at several/many (as many as I can come across) build logs online as well. Another book I'm looking to buy is Ted Moore's KayakCraft, probably this weekend. Everyone seems to have their own perspective on how to build a boat.

I appreciate all of your insights, and as soon as I get my feet actually wet I'll take a class, and maybe hook up with the California Kayak Friends as they seem to be the local club in these parts.
