It is a bit of a hasty generalization to say that the Greenlanders paddled only for a few months of the year and only in calm conditions. I had a chance recently to see another great film depicting artic life -- The Wedding of Palo. This is a fictionalized documentary that was filmed in Greenland in 1935 by Knud Rasmussen. There are rough water kayaking scenes on par with any of the rough water stuff in the This Is The Sea series. It has enough general kayaking footage to make it worth watching just to see the kayaks in use, but the rest of the story is interesting too. If only I understood Danish...
