I don't have any photos of the skinning process (I got too excited to remember to take any).
There is a seam on mine, running along the inside edges of the bifid bow. It basically is an extension of the deck seam and runs through the "jaw" and stops at the spot where the hull starts its upward curve at the bow. It was fairly easy to skin in the 8oz nylon, wetting it, pulling & stitching. Any holes that opened up in the fabric I sealed with Marine Goop and painted over.
It might be a bit more difficult in vinyl.
