I liked the simplicity of the foot braces shown on Neils Ginge's Nikumi shown on the YostWerks SOF site. The only potential problem I could see was that during a particularly hectic wet exit, the cross piece might manage to dislodge and float away. So I came up with this alternative design for the end pieces which could be cut out of a 2x4. The grid is 8squares/inch. The crosspiece could be built with one of those 5/8" wooden curtain rods. Anyway I like it.
