Totally agree. I only use my saber saw if nothing else will do the job. A professional woodworking friend has a Bosch and had the same problem with blade wandering when using a guide. Turned out the blade was set improperly, but even with a new blade things weren't great.

I guess saber saws do not provide precision. I prefer a panel saw for straight freehand cuts, or a circular saw when using a guide. I use thin kerf carbide blades with lots of teeth and a fairly low hook angle and get great results.
