: Bill, your comment on using a hand saw struck a cord - Kudzu also noted that
: he would prefer one to jigsaws. I dusted off my Stanley Steamer (almost
: new, lost my antique saws in a fire) and let it rip (sorry) on some spare
: ply. It was at least as fast as the jigsaw with a cleaner cut and way
: easier to keep to the line. It would follow a curve for a Wee Lassie
: plank.
: I am not always happy with modern tools, the old ones seem to have better
: steel and balance, but those newfangled teeth cut better than my pullsaw.
: Only problem I have is supporting the ply for a long curved cut, a problem I
: solve with a panel power saw with the ply resting on a plastic foam. Any
: ideas out there?
I just use a bunch of cheap plasic saw horses that won't destroy the saw blade and move the ply around on them. The Bosch saber saw makes short work of ply, best though if the cut is done thru masking tape, keeps the splintering to a minimum.
