: Mine is also 6oz inside and out, 2 layers on the bottom, 3 layers at the bow
: and stern and 3 layers inside the hull and deck just behind the
: seat...where I sit when I get in and out. Turns out I probably didn't need
: that but it's my first boat and I was nervous about it's strenght.
I wasn't nervous about my boat's strength, but I also didn't want to have to worry about wear and tear either. I have 2 extra layers behind the cockpit, and (4) 3" wide strips at the bow and stern. I also added a layer of 15 oz. biaxial over the inner stems, going about 6" up the sides of the hull. Don't want to have to worry about icebergs either!!
: The
: difference is the epoxy I'm sure....I ended up using almost 3 gallons.
I used a little under 1.5 gallons!!
I was closer to 3 gallons on the Cheasapeake, though. I think everyone over-uses epoxy on their first boats. By the 4th or 5th boat, people are down to shaving ounces, rather than pounds and gallons of epoxy!!
