I've built the Micmac 17, using redwood.

: My question is this. Does anyone here have any advice or clues about building
: a stripped canoe without using staples? Someone had mentioned routing
: slots in the forms and clamping. Will this work? I plan on using Titebond
: glue. Will spring clamps provide enough presure to get a good joint?

I've done a stapleless kayak, with much tighter curves than the Micmac. The canoe should present no problems. Joe Greenley of Redfish Kayaks uses the slot and spring clamp method. His finished kayaks have some of the tightest joints you'll ever see. I use Titebond (original) glue exclusivly. Titebond II drys with a yellow tint, you might want to avoid it. Since the joints and wood are sealed in fiberglass and resin, you don't need the waterproof quality of Titebond II.
