Most of what I've read of those making SOF or folding boats are using some type canvas, nylon or dacron and painting a waterproof coating on it. I've got some raft material (5'x20") that is incredibly tough. It would be a bit heavier but extremely puncture and abrasion resistant. I've put my raft thru some really hard and sharp rock, branch, river bottom collisions and scrapes in big water and it has come out fine.

Am thinking of using that material for a hull on a kayak. It glues easily and permanently, sewing in tougher but doable. Anyone else had experience with fabrics like this?
