A question for you stich and glu-rues,
A friend of mine is building a 16' Mill Creek.
It will be used primarily for duck hunting, will be painted a dull green so pretty veneer surfaces are not important.
A local lumber yard has a sale on 1/8 Mahogany ply right now, I looked at it and it is nice looking material, no evidence of voids etc.
The list of required materials with his plans call for 1/4" ply for the bottom. 1/8" for the sides and deck.
The 1/4" is not on sale and he would be looking at over $80.00 per sheet as opposed to $11.00 for the 1/8".
The hull will be glassed inside and out, would the 1/8" be sufficient or should I tell him to suck it up and buy the 1/4"?
Thanks,
Ken
PS The above friend just recieved his plans, phoned this evening to discuss the project, I could hear the excitement in his voice. Yesiree folks we got another one hooked. I'm sure you'll all be hearing from him soon!!
