Winter Storage

Well I guess it is time to start stowing my canoes, as a rather miserable flurry is occurring outside right now. I am wondering if there are any ill effects to storing a strip canoe outside over the winter. It will be sheltered in an unheated shed, but I live in eastern Ontario and it will usually reach -20 to -30 Celsius here.
On the positive side, winter frees up a lot of time for boat-building. I have a large heated garage where I am currently stripping a Huron Cruiser. I also plan on building my first kayak this winter. I have just started cutting out the forms for a Guillemot.
Thanks for any advice/experience,
Simon
