Thanks, folks, for the recent thread and advice on super Jig Saws. Although definetly not needed for kayak bldg., I was looking for a new saw, because I have been having trouble cutting 7/8" alaskan yellow cedar lately, especially when the curved cuts are with the grain.
Went off to the flea market in hopes of getting a Milwaukee 6266. No luck. Came across a used DeWalt DW321, but the seller wouldn't budge from $75. Looked over at the next table, and there was a used Bosch 1587 for $40. I didn't even bother to dicker. Wow! What a saw! Even with the used blade in place, it cuts like a hot knife through butter.
If you have need to cut curves in wood greater than 1/2" thick, get one of the ones just mentioned. You won't believe it is a jig saw.
Thanks again,
John
