: I ordred both of Petersen's books "Instruction in Kayak Building"

: corresondence with them indicated that the total cost including shipping
: was ~$99.00, so the shipping is pretty steep. We'll see when the credit

In case someone is still following this thread and interested, I sent an inquiry to Atuagkat and received the following reply, I have added the approximate US dollar equivalents:

"Shipping costs are depending on how much the book/books are weighing.
We have "Skinboats of Greenland" in stock. It costs 348,00 Dkr. ($41.73)-
This book is weighing 1.225 kgs. - and mailing for 1 - 2 kgs. is 345.00 kr.($41.37) by airmail or 242,00 kr. ($29.02) by surfacemail.
We take Visa/Master-cards

So if you want it cheaper, just ask them to rip off the heavy front and back covers (with the beautiful artwork and photo) before shipping
