I used some left over 1/4" rib stock for the lip on my SOF. I rounded the edge, then ripped off a 1/4" strip. This gave me a D-shaped strip to use on the outside. I then ripped another 1/4" strip from the same piece. After tapering the ends, I steamed them and lamintated them to form a 1/4" tall x 1/2" deep lip on the coaming. With the edge already rounded, only light sanding was required to finish the lip. Because the pieces were cut from the same stock, the seam is almost invisible and looks like one piece from a distance.
