Compasses for kayaks
I'm looking for a compass for the next boat, and wondering what you all think of the various models out there. I've also noticed a distinct tendency to mount the thing either pretty far away, where a turning bezel couldn't be turned; or to mount it rather close, where maybe the line of sight might be too short for best navigating. Any comments from you ace seafarers on what's what with compasses--choice of model, and mounting of same? I've never used one in a yak, but used them in racing dinghys for several years.
Thanks in advance!
