: I chose this model because it's easy to read and easy to install. The mount
: is flat and shallow enough to just screw onto a wood plate which forms a

: are. This seems like a fairly good spot for a largish side-reading compass

: The compass can be pried off the base - it's held on by a sort of
: flange-and-groove system that relies on the flexibility of the plastic to
: allow removal. There is a very clear ridge on the base & compass that
: allows you to line the unit back up properly when reinstalling. The mount
: may wear out after many remove/replace cycles or if forced in very cold
: weather.

I have the Aquameter Skipper installed on my boat, which appears to be the same rotating card in a different case. The Skipper has a sun shield which would take much of a blow away from the dome. The Skipper also was a flush mount, but it required a 2 3/4" hole in the deck.

It has a very nice card size with good, readable letters. Some cards' text seems way too small.

I'll probably buy another one for boat # 3 and one for boat #4.

I'll try to post a photo tomorrow.

The best part: I bought it from cyber-marine.com for $26!!
