Greenland kayaks from Greenland are as a rule, designed to turn into the wind when paddling stops - a useful feature when approaching a seal from downwind so as to allow an attempt at a catch but not always appreciated by todays paddlers. It is worth noting that in Greenland strap on skegs and small integral keel type skegs were developed.

One way to deal with this weather-cocking is to move the seat to the rear another couple of inches - this is perhaps the easiest method next to moveable ballast. Having a footbrace connected to the back rest with easy adjustment when on the water is ideal though thigh bracing could be affected.
