Locally (Northern California) Pygmy Cohos have done quite well in the 'traditional' sea kayak class, and an Outer Island stripper in the 'fast traditional' class. Two weeks ago at the Sea Trek Regatta several skin on frame baidarkas did quite well, and Steve Kaspar turned in a very fast time in a Dyson built baidarka. Do a search on "Sea Trek Regatta" to look at the complete results and get an idea of who was paddling what. Check out other races such as the California Canoe and Kayak 'Race for Treasure' and the Sound Rowers (Western Washington) web site which has a history of their races going back several years.
