Welcome aboard to the strapping tape club:

I used to use duct tape a long time ago, and once when I ran out of duct tape I tried filament strapping tape. Once I used the strapping tape I never went back to duct tape.

Some have used 3M and they say that it leaves residue. I've been using "QUIKSTIK" brand strapping tape (1" wide, with the strings in it) and it doesn't have the residue problem. I buy it from Fred Meyer.
