: Bill,

: Could you tell us a bit more about these flush fittings on the left for
: perimeter lines? How did you make them and how did you tie off the line at
: the end?

: Thanks,

: Dean

The perimeter fittings are made of blocks of mohagany 3/4 by 3/4 by 1.5 inches. I used a 5/8 hole saw with a 1/4 inch forstner bit to make the shoulder. I had to grind the inside of the hole saw to get a full 1/2 inch inside diameter. This made installation in the boat easier. I then drilled a 5/16 inch hole through the block from end to end, plugged the ends of the holes with thickened epoxy and sanded off the extra wood. These will only hold 3/16 inch line. The ones I made for my last boat were made with a 3/4 hole saw and 5/16 forstner bit. I thought that they looked to large so I made these smaller. Next time I believe I will go back to the larger ones that will hold 1/4 inch line.

I install two of these fittings at bow and stern so that the line can thread through from one side to the other. You could either run one line from stern to bow to stern and tie off at the stern or as I plan to do run one line on each side and tie the ends off to the carry toggles.

If you need further explanation let me know.

Bill
