Blaise, I'd encourage you to make the lay-ups in such a fashion that you only have to cut or shape glass with the carbon/kevlar material set back from the cutting. Don't know if that's possible with the process you have in mind. I made a carbon/kevlar seat for a kayak and anytime the kevlar needs cutting you've got a finish mess to deal with. I know this isn't what you're looking for but if cosmetics is the goal then why not look at other fabrics? Just thinking of floral print paddles like the Swift brand.
