I used a hog ring, under a short length of shrink wrap. I think this seizing would look better. You could just seize the two ends together, instead of making the loops, and then cover it with shrink wrap. Dont count on the shring wrap to hold it together though - seize it tightly. Perhaps even run some of the whipping through the body of the tubing? Or, use overhand knots and pull each one real tight. Waxed sail twine holds well that way.
