When I kayak, I like to have my binoculars handy for birding or sighting
along the shore for landmarks, etc. I have yet to find a good way to keep them handy but dry. I have a deck bag that I use for snacks, water, my cell phone (inside a cell phone dry bag), etc., but if I'm not careful to keep it zipped up all the time, I end up with some water sloshing around in there from paddle drip. So I feel like I need to keep them in a dry bag too, which makes them not easily accessible. I have to really want to look at something to go to all the bother of getting them out then. That may be the best alternative there is, but I thought I'd ask if any of you creative people have any other ideas.

When I build my wood boat, I don't really want to clutter up the deck with a deck bag, so I've wondered about a knee tube of some kind, but it would probably have to be about 7" wide to accomodate my nocs slid in sideways (maybe less, I'm just guessing as I don't have them here at work to measure), and that may be getting too big. Maybe a flatter, more oval shape would work if I put it back in a little further toward the bow. I'm also thinking about a keyhole cockpit and knee grippers, however, and I don't want to get too many restricting features up there so I can't get in and out of the boat!

Any suggestions would be welcome.
