Don't take no lip ...

In Response To: Cockpit coaming question for S&G (Ben Staley)

: 2 Questions: Will the 1/4" upright strips be thick and strong enough to
: do the pygmy style lip?

: And, is 3mm thick enough or should I double it?

Sorry the Vaclav didn't come out well. 3 mm sounds pretty thin to me. In any case I would glass both sides of the lips prior to installation (6 oz). Don't know on the strips. My tern used thick plywood risers. I'm thinking they were about 1/2" wide, but could be wrong. The lips were just epoxied down and filleted. No overlapping glass. Just remember the coaming lip gets a lot of abuse entering and exiting the boat.

Why not just go with a Schade type lip? You know that will work and you already have the riser strips.
