: If the cloth is biaxially cut it conforms to curves better. I had about a 1/8
: radius on the bottom side of the deck and 1/4 radius on the form. The
: cloth was laid 1 inch on the bottom of the deck, 1 inch up the coaming
: form ( 4mm of ply + 3/4 inch form ) and 3/4 inch for coming lip. I did not
: use any tape or weights to make the cloth stay in place. I did keep
I had lots of seam glass tape left over and I was going to use it. Cheap can be expensive. I did know about cutting glass on the bias and I learned a heck of a lesson the hard way. The reason I taped the glass under the deck was for holding strength. If I hadn't, there would only be the 1/4" strip edge holding the coaming at the front and rear of the deck. The inside radrus to be put in later would add some more holding surface. I have a nice pair of tailor scissors that we used for cutting fiber glass when I worked in the Pattern trade, but I do think I will try the fabric cutter on my next boat. Thanks guys.
