It is VERY hard to remove all traces of a silicone from a surface. In furniture refinishing it causes a good deal of difficulty such as "fisheyes" in the new finish, even after stripping,solvent washing and sanding. We add a "fisheye killer" into lacquers just to prevent that (when needed). I don't normally add it unless fisheyes show up - it's a silicone in itself.
After 20 years in a furniture shop and quite a few years building boats, I would NEVER knowingly put a substance containing silicone on a surface that eventually was to be recoated using either lacquer or varnish.
