: I am about to put a 200 gsm (6 oz) layer inside and out on my Gt Auk Double.
: If weight were no object and I wanted a stronger layup, what would be the
: next reinforcement to use? I don't need any sacrificial layers on the
: outside for the type of padling I do. Would Kevlar on the inside be of any
: great advantage?
: Any advice would be appreciated. PS the strips are white pine about 5mm
: (3/16") thick after sanding.
I believe that a multi-layered layup of lightweight cloth (2 oz or 4 oz), would give more strength and protection than a single layer of heavier cloth and lighter than 2 layers of the 6 oz stuff. 2 layers of 4 oz or 4 layers of 2 oz would probably be plenty strong, albeit a lot more work, and light cloth is harder to apply well. You could use carbon fiber on the inside if your wallet is fat............ a black interior would broil you though. No engineering here........just my opinion.
good luck,
Garland
