I'm thinking about building a kayak for my son this winter...I am a woodworker but definitely not a boater. These kayaks looks so beautiful I'd really like the challenge.
These questions have probably been asked and answered many times before but I'd sure appreciate the knowledge:
1. Is it necessary to have continuous strips? I have the capacity to run no more than a 12' plank through my tablesaw and the kayak will probably be 17'
2. 4/4 lumber will result in 3/4" strips - everything I've read indicates that 5/8 strips are more pliable. Is this correct?
3. Am I likely to get complete mismatch in color if I order long strips from a different source than I buy planed planks ?
Thanks
Chas
