Since I've posted a few responses in the last few days I thought perhaps I should tell you good people something about myself.
My name is Charlie, I'm 60 years old and I operate a wood shop in Victoria Texas which shares a building with the sailboat shop. I've been refinishing and repairing furniture for about 18 years now and have been building, repairing and rebuilding on boats since about 1968. Have built several boats for myself in the past, including a Cross 35 trimaran, which I lived aboard and cruised for several years. My wife and I each sail a Dolphin Sr Lateen rigged boat and we have a 21 foot fiberglass sloop and we have a Chestnut Prospector cedar strip canoe. Web page can be seen at

I currently have a Stevenson Weekender almost completed in the shop for a customer, and will shortly be starting 4 boats from CLC for another. One of those will be a Mill Creek 16.5 with a sail rig.
We have the molds for an Ian Oughtred 12 foot glued lapstrake double paddle sailing canoe cut out and on a strongback to be built for my wife (if time ever permits) and I hope to do a kayak for myself sometime after the first of the year, again time permitting (I hope, I hope!). I plan to use the boat for short coastal bay and marsh paddles but primarily to fish from.
I've been using WEST epoxy on my boats and in my shop since 1976, and continue to use it because I know what it will do- I don't get many surprises anymore from it. Should any of you happen to be in the Victoria area, please stop by and say hello.
