: Here is final start decesion hurtle. I weigh 185lbs and am 6-3. how much room
: does that leave for gear in the Stich and Glue Gilmont?

Yo Myrl

If we are talking Nick Schades Guillemot S&G, I weigh 95 kg (@200 - 210 lbs) which gives you a 20 - 30 lbs head start in cargo (I'd start with a fine wine or two and some serious camera gear).

Nick suggests the guillemot is not an aircraft carrier and that "you cannot expect to take the kitchen sink". But you surely will be able to take at least as much gear as a hiker might. Certainly there seems to be acres of room in my aft hold (now that I have epoxied in my rear bulkhead. Then there is room for all you can jam up front as well!

At the end of the day, I expect to spend 95% of my time just doodling around on day trips and going for a paddle afterwork on nice evenings. For the expeditions, I will aim to travel light and in a pack (trying to conscript my kids to come along too)so I figure the guillemot S&G will be just fine.

I am 6' and have cycling thighs. I feel the kayak fits me really nicely and have no doubt that you should too. The only rider is that for some reason my Guillemot S&G is about 22 1/2" wide. I think it is supposed to be 21" wide and can offer no reasons why this happened. Maybe my Guillemot S&G is a little squished, but that doesn't bother me - in Wellington NZ the average day is winds in excess of 20 knots (so the less windage the better I say).

Good luck with your project

Pete
