Or closer to 100%, plus the force of a person coming down hard on it...with that acceleration, 150%....

That is a situation where you'd need a lot of strength around the middle of the paddle. Here is where 2-piece paddles break at the ferrule.

With more "normal" breaks, as in normal paddling situations, I've seen more breaks at the shoulder where the blade meets the shaft.
