: Checked out the site. Great looking boats. Strip construction scares me a
: little....is S&G better for a beginner, or is it ok to jump into a strip
: built. Can I make the materials, or is it better to buy for he first time.
: I have a small table saw.
I keep agreeing with Mitch and I don't even know the guy! If you have a router that you can mount into some type of table, you'll be able to cut your own cove and bead edges on the cedar strips. If your tablesaw is accurate (can cut a consistent 1/4" x 3/4" strip from one/by lumber) then it should be able to handle cutting strips from cedar board. It took me most of a morning and afternoon to cut and mill enough western red cedar for 2 boats. That would help keep your cost down. My current Storm project will come in at or less than a S&G kit including the carbon fiber cloth for the cockpit coaming and about $100 worth of abalone diamonds.
