I spent about 3 hours milling redwood strips last week. I made more than 1600 lineal feet of cuts - I took no breaks and never had a problem with the saw heating up or even slowing as I shoved the wood through it. I think the key was using an ultra thin kerf 5" ripping blade (Freud, about $7) on a 10" table saw. The blade speed is slower but the motor has more torque.
