: I am working on inlaying a design on my Cape Ann and need advice on what to
: use to fill the small cracks that are visable after gluing. I was using a
: Japanese dozuki saw to cut the slots out of the hull. The inlay consists
: of dark cedar in 1/4 inch strips outlining the design. I need to fill
: white cedar and some dark brown red cedar. Epoxy and wood flour is just a
: little to dark for the white section. I will be using coloured dyes to
: high light the white portion of the wood. Any suggestions greatly
: appreciated. Regards Erich
For slightly wider gaps you can cut very narrow wedge shaped strips that may be inserted into gaps. But for really narrow gaps I generally add a light colored filler to my wood flour. Q-cell microsphere work, baking flour will be a little less white.
