I believe as a food additive it's less filling than sawdust,,ok,,theorectically sawdust reduces the strength of the epoxy by a certain amount, cabosil doesn't. So cabosil is more attractive for laminating wood. It makes for more consistant bonds when laminating,maybe? If you add a little cabosil to fillets they're smoother. If one is careful you could use wood flour as a thickening agent for everything.
