I tried it on a birdmouth paddle shaft of Alaska Yellow Cedar, and another of mahogany. CPES had MUCH better penetration. CC builds a film and penetrates a little bit. CPES penetrates completely, and builds almost no film at all. Your URL says you're a Seattle guy too, so if you drop me an email we can get together and I can show you up close.
