I'm a kayak building virgin! I've just got my set of plans for an Expedition Sport and am thinking about deck & hull designs.

Would inlaying a 5/8" ceder strip with continuous 36" x 3/8" veneer 1/32" thick be an option for a single strip around the hull?

Can I stain ceder strips (I'm thinking a rich red color) for decoration be an option?
