The quality is the same, because they are printed on the same photographic paper as prints made from negatives. They will last as long. The cost is the same as it would be if you had a reprint made from a negative or a slide. Depends on the place, but probably about a dollar for a 4x6. It's been a while since I had a print made and I don't remember exactly.

If your final goal is to have a print of EVERY picture you take, a film camera is better, because the cost of developing a roll and printing it is less than the "reprints" you would be making from a digital camera's images. But if you want to take lots of pictures that you can see on your computer, e-mail to friends, post on the web, and occasionaly print out, a digital camera is the way to go.
