That got me laughing. I THOUGHT it was around 23", but when I wrote my post, I went to what I thought was the Walden website to double check on the width and it said it was 30". Now I see that it isn't the actual Walden site, which has it as 24". Phew. That would be one fat boat.

Copied directly from http://www.sportsandmarineparafunalia.com/vista.htm
Length: 12.5/12.5 ft.
Width: 30 / 30 in.
Weight: 41/42 lbs.

The first number is for the regular Vista, the second for the Expedition model.

But I don't wanna make endless paddles!!!!!! I had been thinking of going with 84" too. But I'm anal and still think if I plan it right and research it to death, I can get it right the first time. Guess I'll have to actually start making things before I lose that silly notion.

: The Vista is only suposed to be 24" wide.

: As for your paddle length question, I'd suggest making your first one around
: 84" as it's a good all-around size. You can always make others in
: different lengths as experiments. Believe me, once you make one, you'll
: want to do more.

Paddle should be long enough to reach the water
