: You will never make leaves lie perfectly flat. They will at the very least
: have high spots at the veins and stems. It might help to apply two layers
: of glass over them so you have more to sand away and they be careful you
: don't sand into the high spots. Any pin hole will let in water and the
: material will quickly deteriorate.

i wonder if one used pete rudie's idea of cpes for penetration and flattened the leaves on some glass or plastic w/ peel ply over and used that carjack idea of jim kozel's then one would get flat leaves and low resin content as the peel ply comes off(need to experiment, maybe the peel ply would peel the leaves apart when you try to remove it)

then either light glue that down and glass over for a way less chance of deterioration, and lower humps and bumps maybe. and you're not handling a fragile leaf during the process of attaching it to the yak. could do better mockups.

if the yak surface was too complex in curvature, then the peel ply over the cpes'd leaf in place? or just start the process on the bench but when semi hard apply to the yak?

wonder what the colour change would be. but then, you could play w/ colour tints too, maybe as it mostly gets absorbed.
