The other two responses did not mention that you have to cut the strip slightly longer in order to make up for the depth of the bead or cove. When mating to a beaded edge you use a round jeweler's file to make a cove in your mitered edge. The cove will cover the bead about 1/8". When mating to a coved edge you use a plane or sand to form a radius on the mitered edge. This will fit about 1/8" into the cove. I use a very simple thumb plane by stanley that they sell at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. You need to practice once or twice. I always cut the strip about 1/4" long and shape it. You will lose a little length when shaping it. PLEASE NOTE: It is much easier to make a bead than a cove, so plan your stripping so that most of your miters fit into coved edges. Good luck!
