: I designed the Sea Spirit to allow a the paddler to sit comfortably when
: upright, and lay directly on to the back deck with ease, while rolling and
: bracing. The 21 inch beam provides great initial stability. Secondary
: stability is also very good, due in part to the very low waterline. I find
: that I can balance brace the Sea Spirit without the need of a paddle for
: support. The boat also doesn’t exhibit any weather cocking, and tracks on
: course extremely well. It does, however need to be leaned in order to turn
: in a short radius. The Sea Spirit also can accommodate a large paddler.

I can vouch for all of this. I was amazed how comfortable the SS was when I tried it at Delmarva (I'm 6', 170#, 36" inseam, size 11 feet). I had done my first successful balance brace in my SOF boat the day prior to testing the SS and I was able to balance brace it with no paddle, my arms by my sides and my forearms and hands out of the water. I was astonished! I also found that in order to get up, all I had to do was slide my shoulder onto the aft deck and sit up - no paddle required.

I'm currently in the process of re-arranging my workshop in order to start construction of a Sea Spirit.
