: should I glass the rim using 2->3 inch virtical strips of glass?

3 or 4" wide "bias-cut" strips work best. Bias cut means cut at a 45 deg. angle to the weave. These strips are wrapped along the length of the coaming (not vertically). The bias cut makes it easy to conform to the shape.
