Hi Rob,
I just left out the extra form area above the cockpit and cut my forms straight across at the uppermost mark.
When it came to stripping the deck, I measured out where the cockpit recess would end up on the surrounding forms and just made sure to cover with strips slightly past the cockpit mark. It ended up fine.
So you can fill in the extra break-away part of the forms if you want to but it isn't required since you don't need strips in that area.
Good Luck!

: Hey all: I started laying out the forms for the Guillemot from the offset
: table in the book this weekend. When I got to the cockpit areas, I could
: only find data for a straght line across the pattern at the cockpit height
: (the bottom 2 rows in the table for forms 8,9 & 10). I could not find
: data points for the area above the recess. The text explains to build
: these forms as break-away, meaning full forms with reglued cuts at the
: cockpit recess height. It further explains that the tables include
: information for the forms above cockpit height. The pictures in the
: building section of the book clearly show full forms for this area.
: Wouldn't these points appear where the blank boxes are in the table? Am I
: just missing something simple here? I'm working in autocad - should I just
: eyeball the deck area and hope the forms are fair? I'm starting to wonder:
: If I can't do something simple like lay out the forms, I surely can't
: build the boat! Thanks for the help.
